Will my organisation qualify for the TechSoup New Zealand Program?

To participate in the TechSoup New Zealand program, New Zealand Charities, Voluntary and Community groups with charitable status must meet the eligibility criteria outlined below. Our partners have differing eligibility requirements.

1 Does your organisation have a Charities Register Number?

2 If your organisation is nonprofit in nature but is not listed on the Charities Commission Register you may still be able to qualify for the TechSoup New Zealand technology discount and donation programme. To do so you will need to provide:

  • a copy of your constitution noting your dissolution clause
  • a copy of the letter from Inland Revenue confirming your organisation’s nonprofit status
3 Alternatively, to apply for Income Tax Exemption, your organisation will need to send a draft document of your exemption application to Inland Revenue. It must include the following information about the organisation:
  • IRD number - if you don't have one, you'll need to apply. Please complete an IRD number application - non-individual (IR596)
  • a copy of its rules, constitution, trust deed or other founding documents - preferably in draft (before being finalised) form
  • a copy of its certificate of incorporation (if applicable)
  • a letter stating the type(s) of exemption being requested, eg sports club
  • details of how it has been or will be operating.

Once your application has been reviewed, the Inland Revenue will send a written confirmation informing your organisation of the tax exempt status. For more information, please visit http://www.ird.govt.nz/.

To receive products as donations, organisations must also meet the requirements of the donor partners that offer the products through TechSoup New Zealand. To determine if your organisation is eligible to receive products from a given partner, please review the relevant partner page.
