Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence Suite (Includes Software Assurance)

Microsoft Lync Server External Connector (EC) Licence Suite is a set of Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licences for Microsoft Lync Server.

An External Connector Licence allows any number of external users or devices to access a single installation of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Generally, an external user is defined as anyone who is not an employee of the organisation. For example, external users can include clients, suppliers, and alumni of the organisation. External users do not include independent contractors, agents, service providers, or other persons providing services to or on behalf of the organisation holding the licence.

The Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence Suite includes:

• One Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence - Standard, which supports the instant messaging, presence and PC-to-PC audio and video communications capabilities of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 for one user from any device.
• One Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence - Enterprise, which supports the audio, video and web conferencing and application sharing capabilities of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2. When used with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, the Enterprise CAL also enables voice telephony features.
• One Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence - Plus, which supports the enterprise telephony capabilities of Microsoft Lync Server 2010.

To enable all features in Microsoft Lync Server 2010, all three External Connector licences in the Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence Suite are needed.

The Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence Suite may not be used as a means of reselling or repackaging Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 as a hosted service.

Microsoft Lync Server Device CAL Suites and Microsoft Lync Server User CAL Suites are also available for internal use. A Microsoft Lync Server Device CAL authorises one computer to access Microsoft Lync Server, regardless of the number of users. A Microsoft Lync Server User CAL authorises one user to access Microsoft Lync Server on any number of devices.
