Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 (Includes Software Assurance)

Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 enables organisations to deploy, assess and update Microsoft Windows Embedded devices, providing a single management solution that offers enhanced insight and control over IT infrastructure and systems by extending the capabilities of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007.

Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 provides increased ease of management, enhanced insight and control, and greater embedded device integration. You can now manage the most common devices found in Enterprise environments, including Thin Clients, Point of Sale, Point of Service, Digital Signage and Kiosks.

Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 allows administrators to use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 to manage embedded devices in the same manner as PCs and servers. Similar devices are automatically aggregated into device collections for simplified management, servicing, and reporting.

Administrators can configure settings for embedded devices, including password, proxy, VPN, and WiFi. They can also control when updates should be applied to embedded devices with write filter protection, which prevents unauthorised changes.

Licence Requirements

This product includes only the Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 server licence. A Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager Client Management Licence (ML) is required for each nonserver device managed by Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011. Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 Client Management Licences are licenced per user or per operating system environment (OSE).
