Description:
This standard external connector (EC) licence supports instant messaging, presence, and PC-to-PC audio and video communications capabilities for any number of external users or devices accessing a single installation of Lync Server 2010 or Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
Additional licences are required for audio, video, and web conferencing, application sharing, and enterprise telephony capabilities.
- An enterprise EC licence provides all but voice telephony features when used with Lync Server 2010; voice telephony features require a plus EC licence. To enable all features, all three EC licences (standard, enterprise, and plus) are needed
- An enterprise EC licence provides all these capabilities when used with Office Communications Server 2007 R2. To enable all features, both standard and enterprise EC licences are needed.
Generally, an external user is defined as anyone who is not an employee of the organisation. For example, external users can include clients, suppliers, and alumni of the organisation. External users do not include independent contractors, agents, service providers, or other persons providing services to or on behalf of the organisation holding the licence.
The EC licence may not be used as a means of reselling or repackaging Lync Server 2010 or Office Communications Server 2007 R2 as a hosted service.
Device CALs and user CALs are also available for internal use. A device CAL authorizes one computer to access the server, regardless of the number of users. A user CAL authorizes one user to access the server on any number of devices.
Licence Only: This licence does not
require media, licence keys, or setup codes.
Software Assurance: Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.
