NZ charities first to get Windows 7 tomorrow
|
We're pleased to announce TechSoup NZ will be launching Windows 7 concurrently with Microsoft’s global launch tomorrow, Thursday 22 October. With New Zealands time difference in mind, that will mean we'll be the first in the world to take advantage of this latest version of Windows from Microsoft. Products available will include Windows 7 Professional Upgrade and Windows 7 Enterprise Upgrade (both in 32 and 64 bit).
To help you evaluate whether Windows 7 is right for your organisation, you may want to have a look at Windows & Upgrade Advisor at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx which is a downloadable Microsoft product that scans your PC to see if it's ready for Windows 7, and tells you about any known compatibility issues.
We also have some information on our own website which includes things you should know about your current operating environment when looking at upgrading to Windows 7.http://www.techsoup.net.nz/node/647
Make sure you keep a close eye on the TechSoup NZ website as we post more information about the release of Windows 7 this week.

Case studies are an integral part of measuring the success of the TechSoup NZ donation programme.
In conjunction with Microsoft NZ we recently videoed four of the organisations about which we had previously written case studies. The video was launched at the Microsoft NZ event celebrating the 1st year of TechSoup NZ. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOxF7-36RXc

First anniversary of TechSoup NZ marked
|
Last month Microsoft New Zealand hosted an event celebrating TechSoup New Zealand’s one year anniversary and a Microsoft strategic software grant of $1.4 Million to Barnardos New Zealand. Speakers (pictured from left to right) included Microsoft NZ Country Manager, Kevin Ackhurst; Prime Minister the Hon. John Key; Tina Reid, NZFVWO’s Executive Director; Chris Liddell, CFO of Microsoft; and Murray Edridge, CE of Barnardos NZ. In attendance were NZFVWO’s Executive Committee and staff, as was Doug Jacquier, CE of Connecting Up Australia (our partners in TechSoup New Zealand). The event, in Wellington, also served as the closing to the first day of Microsoft’s Tech.Ed New Zealand in Auckland, where it was streamed live. Congratulations to both Connecting Up Australia and NZFVWO for a great 1st year in New Zealand!

Helpful tip
Why don't the number of Microsoft products I ordered equal the numver of disks I've received?
You should only ever receive one media kit (i.e set of disks) for each software title you've ordered. When you order, you'll also receive access to volume licence keys for the number of products you've ordered. To get access to these, you follow the instructions in the Microsoft Open Licence Confirmation email which is sent to the email address you've regsitered with us. You then use these volume licence keys to license your ordered products.
For example, if you ordered 5 licences of Office Professional Plus 2007, your volume licence key will then let you install this on up to 5 different computers entering the same licence key each time when prompted.
