General membership questions
How can I register for membership?
Please register online on: www.techsoup.net.nz/membership/application.
How much is membership?
$150 + GST per year. It is valid for 12 months from the date of registration.
Is the membership for individual or organisation?
It is an organisational membership as anyone in the organisation can use the benefit, but each member will only have one account and each benefit is only applicable to one person per account. That account needs to be used when claiming the benefit.
What benefits do I get?
Please see the full list of benefits on: www.techsoup.net.nz/membership/benefits. Key benefits include:
- 20% discount to all paid events and webinars (only 1 person per event)
- $50 off to the 2014 annual conference (only 1 person – discount will apply regardless what rate you register for, eg, if you register for the early bird rate, it will be $50 off the early bird rate)
- Free mentoring session for 1 hour, which is valued at $150 (only 1 hour per year)
Each member benefit is only applicable to one person in the organisation.
I’ve registered as a member but can’t access the benefits. Why is that?
This might be due to several reasons:
- Log in - Please make sure you are logged in with the member account to be able to access the benefits.
- Payment - Membership will only be activated upon payment. If the membership fee has not been paid, the benefits will not apply.
- Donations/discount program - You might already be registered for the donations/discount program or have an account on our website, but this doesn't entitle you to the benefits outlined above. You need to be a paid member ($150 + GST per year) to access these benefits.
Can I access the donations and discount program if I purchase membership?
No. The donations and discount program is separate from the paid membership. Registration for this program is free and depending on your organisation’s eligibility. The paid membership has no eligibility criteria.
Can I cancel my membership?
No. Membership fee is non-refundable once paid, but it is transferrable within the organisation (eg, change of name). Please advise us in writing if you’d like to change the membership details: membership@connectingup.org.
If I don’t use my benefits this year, will these be accumulated to the new year?
No. Any benefits not used within the current membership year cannot be carried over to the next year.
Mentoring questions
How do I apply for a mentoring session?
You must be a member to access this benefit. Please go to the mentoring page on: www.techsoup.net.nz/membership/mentoring and follow the prompts. Once application is submitted, the mentor will contact you to confirm or request additional information if needed.
What topics can I get mentoring on?
There are various topics available on technology, marketing, social media and content management. For a full list, please go to: www.techsoup.net.nz/membership/mentoring.
These are only the general topics of discussion, as you need to post a specific question or issue that you’d like to raise and the expected outcome when submitting a mentoring application, as long as they fall within the sub-topics listed.
Can I get more mentoring time after I’ve used up my 1 hour?
Yes. If you would like a follow-up session or mentoring on a different topic, the cost will be $150 + GST per hour. Please discuss this with your mentor at your session and they will advise how much extra time will be needed for the extra mentoring.
Can I get mentoring on 2 different topics within the 1 hour?
This depends on the complexity of your issue. If the 2 topics are within the same category (eg, technology), this may be possible. Please make note of both topics when you submit an application and the mentor will contact you if there’s an issue with this (eg, there won’t be enough time for both).
Why can’t I access the mentoring application page?
You must be a member to access this page and you must be logged in with your member account.
When can I get the mentoring?
Your requested session date must be at least one week after the application is submitted. Please select your preferred session slot on the application based on what’s available.
How does the mentoring work?
Mentoring will take place over an online meeting platform or by phone. Online platform is preferred so we can share screen with you and show demonstration or other materials as required. However, if you are more comfortable with a phone consultation, please mention that in your application.
Will you be able to come to our office for mentoring?
No. We do not provide face-to-face consultation.
Can I reschedule my session?
Yes. You may reschedule up to two times and you must make the change at least one week before the initial scheduled consultation. Any further rescheduling will result in the session being forfeited. Please email membership@connectingup.org to reschedule your session.
