TechSoup New Zealand Events Programme 101
If you've ever found yourself in a sticky situation around our Events Programme or maybe you're not sure how to go about registering, then have a read below and make sure you know back to front the ins and outs of the Events Programme!
Having stepped into the position of Events Officer a couple of months ago, I have noticed there are a lot of unknowns to our customers around our abundant Events Programme. And whilst we always have a large number of people attending our events, we are getting a lot of the same logistical questions.
Like my last blog, I think it’s great to be able to put all the information into one easy place to find for everyone.
A little history to start off with, the Events Programme was created in 2012 and in our last financial year we had around 3200 people attend various events such as, webinars, workshops and online courses.
Below are some frequently asked questions and answers around the Events Programme which will hopefully assist you!
I missed a webinar, what do I do?
All our webinars and online courses are recorded, so if you are late, completely miss it, or just prefer to watch it at your own leisure, this is possible. We also send out slides and any accompanying documents talked about or requested in the webinars and courses. If you have questions, you are always more than welcome to email them through to our events team at events@techsoup.net.nz.
I registered for a webinar, but I haven’t got the link?
You’ve registered, that’s great! But if it’s a paid webinar, you will need to make payment by EFT, cheque or credit card (PayPal). Once we receive payment, you will receive the link.
For those paying by EFT and cheque, please bear in mind this isn’t instant. If you have left registering to the last minute and the webinar is starting within the next 24 hours, don’t fret, simply email us with proof of your payment to events@techsoup.net.nz and we can change the status to payment received and you will receive your link in time!
If you have registered for a free webinar or paid for your webinar and still haven’t received your link (within the same day of registering), let us know! Sometimes there are glitches, so better to be safe than sorry and alert us.
I’ve received my recording, but when I click on the link it says Access Denied?
You must be logged into the account you purchased the webinar through. Some of you may have personal accounts, and others may have organisational accounts. The recording will only sit on the account which it was ordered through. Remember when clicking on the email link, you must already be logged into the website.
Other ways to get to your recording is through your My Account page, under Purchased Content.
How do I know that I have successfully registered for an event?
When you are registering for an event, there are a few key steps that you need to keep in mind:
- After you submit your registration details, you will see a membership page – this does not mean that you have completed your registration. You must select either No thanks or I agree to the terms and conditions at the bottom of the page and click continue with order
- There will be 3 more pages following this and once you have successfully registered, the final page will say Order Complete
- You will also receive an invoice via email to advise you of your order with an order number Mxxxxx
- Within 30 minutes, you should receive an email from GoToWebinar with links to the webinar. If you do not receive this email, please contact events@techsoup.net.nz or 09 8870 291and our team will check the system to ensure you have successfully registered
How do I attend my webinar?
Once you have paid/submitted your order, you will receive an email invoice from TechSoup New Zealand and an email from GoToWebinar. The GoToWebinar email will have your entry link, details of when the webinar/course is on, you have the option to save this information to your email calendar. You will also receive reminders for when your email is coming up.
When clicking on the link, a “protocol” message will come up, don’t be scared, click Launch and let the fun begin!
I know sometimes all this information can be daunting, and as you can see, there is a lot of information here! However we are always here to support you, so when you do have issues please don’t hesitate to contact us via email events@techsoup.net.nz or phone, 09 8870 291.
That’s all from me for now!
