Working from a learners’ needs-centred approach, English Language Partners NZ (ELP) believes that the ability to communicate confidently and effectively in English is essential for successful settlement in Aotearoa New Zealand. Also, shared learning among people of different cultures benefits our communities by promoting mutual respect and understanding. ELP is New Zealand’s largest not-for-profit organisation working with migrants and refugees from 23 locations around the country. As an organisation they say they have tended to be late ITC adopters. This is for a few reasons; the main one being that with limited funding, resources have to be prioritised.

Windows 7 upgrade products will be available for donation to qualified nonprofits through TechSoup NZ on 22 October – specifically Windows 7 Professional and Enterprise upgrades (32 and 64 bit).

Thanks to our programme partner, Remarkit Solutions based in Wellington, we're now able to offer New Zealand charities the opportunity to purchase excellent refurbished desktop computers for as little as $300 (including GST and delivery). As part of the recent updates to the Microsoft Software Donation Program, Microsoft made donations of full versions of its Windows operating systems available through the Microsoft Get Genuine program.

Next month, InternetNZ is convening NetHui 2012, New Zealand's conference about the Internet, which is now in its second year. The theme this year is ‘Shaping our Future Together'.
