Every day it gets harder and harder to get the attention of partners and build deep meaningful relationships that serve the community, the partner and the organisation.   As funding contracts and the number of not-for-profits increases there is a greater demand to be more creative and resourceful when working with partners. Increasingly, partners are becoming more specific about how and when they provide support.

Key learning objectives

  • How do we quantify the value we create for partners and how do we do this to create long term strategic relationships?
  • How do we create value to partners beyond the transactional metrics like size of community and demographic alignment?
  • What are the driving factors that make our organisation valuable to partners beyond "feel good factor"?
  • How do you add value that doesn't have to cost the partner or your organisation a small fortune?
  • As funding contracts and the number of non-profits increases, how do we distinguish ourselves in the market?

About the presenter - Jon Yeo

Since 2009 Jon Yeo has been the License Holder for TEDxMelbourne (an independent event of TED.com), a 100% volunteer organisation and not-for-profit committed to creating events around "ideas worth spreading". During that time, the competitive landscape for events (and therefore partners) has significantly grown. Today, working with partners, TEDxMelbourne events fill 900 seat auditoriums in days and still holds a State Library record sell out of 90 minutes.

When not volunteering for TEDxMelbourne Jon works with B-Corps, social enterprises and on youth programs to get clarity on their message and "deliver a message with impact".
