Christchurch Riding for the Disabled
"We are really delighted with the software and are immensely grateful to Microsoft for making this happen for our organisation."
Pam Thomas, Office Administrator, RDA Christchurch
Christchurch Riding for Disabled is a not for profit organisation that aims to foster confidence, independence and well-being for people with disabilities through therapeutic horse riding and horse care.
The Christchurch centre is one of the largest of 56 Riding for Disabled Centres throughout New Zealand, with upwards of 150 people in the organisation at any given time - made up of staff, coaches, volunteers and riders. The administration involved in running such a group is no different to running a large business organisation.
With no government funding
they rely on grants, donations and the generosity of the community to ensure
they continue to provide their riders a much loved service with impeccable
standards. Over the last few years the
centre has experienced a huge amount of growth that their ancient computer
system had been struggling to cope with.
But because of the generosity
of Microsoft, when Christchurch Riding for the Disabled upgraded their office
desktop computers, and purchased a laptop; they were able to load them with all
the Microsoft software they required.
This enabled them to run their office with much greater efficiency due to the increased speed and functionality of that Microsoft software. They were therefore better able to meet the increased demand they had for their services. They were also able to produce promotional material that would have been impossible with their previous out-dated computer software.
