Te Puna Whaiora upgrades through TechSoup
Te Puna Whaiora provides an early and transforming intervention in the lives of vulnerable children, so that together with their families they may begin to build a brighter future.
"We believe that the advances available in Windows 7, Exchange 2010, Office 2010, SQL 2008 and Windows Server 2008 will enable us to offer much more functionality, reliability and performance utilising the same hardware and we are looking forward to being able to draft plans for an infrastructure upgrade program not possible before."
On behalf of all the children and staff of Te Puna Whaiora, I would like to thank you for your assistance in the supply of Microsoft software to our organisation through the TechSoup program.
Te Puna Whaiora provides an early and transforming intervention in the lives of vulnerable children, so that together with their families they may begin to build a brighter future. We are a nationwide organisation that provides respite and community care and your community spirit will help to ensure that more of our resources can be directed to where they're needed most.
We rely heavily in IT infrastructure to provide a secure and reliable platform to keep our children's stories safe and accessible. In 2007 we moved from a system of separate networks into a centralised architecture using Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP Professional with Exchange 2003 that enabled us to dramatically reduce our administrative costs. We maintain a Domain Controller and File server at each location with centralised Exchange, SQL and backup services kept in our head-office in Wellington.
Our key Service application was more recently modernised from disparate Access databases into an online application called Freedom that utilises IIS and SQL to deliver a nationwide tool and social work practice model for recording and analyzing our data in ways not possible before.
We believe that the advances available in Windows 7, Exchange 2010, Office 2010, SQL 2008 and Windows Server 2008 will enable us to offer much more functionality, reliability and performance utilising the same hardware and we are looking forward to being able to draft plans for an infrastructure upgrade program not possible before.
Once again, many thanks to Microsoft and TechSoup for your generosity and your ongoing recognition of the NGO sector in New Zealand.
