Should your organization initiate a new program? Rather than resort to using telepathic powers or mind reading, an online survey is a powerful research tool that can deliver the feedback you need. Paper-based surveys are often too costly and time-consuming to administer, but online surveys make it easy for any organization to get feedback on the cheap.

  • TechSoup New Zealand Microsoft admin fee price rise Because we knew many of the nonprofits we serve planned to request product donations in-line with our fiscal year end cycle (which runs from July 1 through June 30), we held admin fees at the current levels until July 1, 2010.  However:

  • For well over 10 years we’ve been making 1,000 calls a day using a paper-based system. Whilst it was obvious that an IT system would improve our efficiency, we did not feel that using our donors’ money to fund such a system was as important as getting our programmes into more schools to support kids in need.

  • TechSoup New Zealand was offered the opportunity to attend this annual event in Wellington with a view to alerting attendees from all around New Zealand to the availability of technology donations and discounts. This was a weekend event, with registration on the Friday afternoon, so we had our stand for the Friday afternoon during the registration phase.
  • With more and more not-for-profit organisations competing to gain support from the community especially in regards to funding, it is important that your message is communicated clearly and effectively using the right marketing channels.   • Net2Akl held their most recent meet-up on Tuesday 30 October at the Amnesty NZ offices. The group of 15 or so people who gathered were treated to an inside look at how Amnesty International worked with advertising agency Colenso, to dream up and create a clever, engaging, and technology centric idea to bring awareness to human rights and teach New Zealanders the realities of their actions.

  • On Tuesday 27 November, Microsoft hosted a free Connecting Communities event, with support from TechSoup New Zealand and Infoxchange, which showcased how information and communication technology (ICT) can transform the efficiency and effectiveness of an organisation to help deliver better social outcomes. 
  • On 28 November, the NetSquared groups from Auckland, Wellington, Adelaide and Melbourne came together to host a NetSquared Down Under meet-up (#Net2DU).  
  • Learning online is an easy way to get the information you need without having to leave the office. Connecting Up, the organisation that runs the TechSoup New Zealand programme runs monthly webinars to help not-for-profits - many of which are free.
