Donors are the lifeblood of your organisation, volunteers the strong backs upon which it is built. You rely on them and on the partners and other constituents who interact with your not-for-profit on a daily basis. Tracking them all involves creating and maintaining a lot of data.  But that data also needs to be accessible. A database is like a First Aid kit—it doesn’t matter what’s in it if you can’t get to it when you need to. For example, if a donor calls, you want to be able to instantly access their donation history, their personal information and any other relevant data.  

Email is a key channel to communicate with our stakeholders, volunteers, donors and supporters. Many not-for-profit organisations use emails to send out e-newsletters, information on the upcoming fundraising campaigns, event invitations and other campaigns to promote their cause.  It is a powerful marketing tool that delivers value by driving response and cultivating ongoing relationships, and it is cited by marketers as one of the tactics with the best ROI. Numerous surveys of online marketers around the world also show that email is as important to them as it was two years ago. Since July 1 TechSoup New Zealand has already donated almost $100,000 worth of licences of Office Professional Plus 2007 to 37 organisations across New Zealand. This means that of the organisations that have placed orders via TechSoup approximately 7 in 10 organsiations have ordered Office Professional Plus 2007. Office Professional Plus 2007 is part of the Microsoft Office system, an integrated collection of programs, servers, and services designed to work together to enable optimized information work. Preventing Violence in the Home has recently started a new pilot project called "Safe At Home" which is aimed at keeping high risk families safe, by making their homes more secure, with locks being changed or fitted, sensor lighting installed, glass doors changed to solid wood, broken windows fixed, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors provided etc.  Each victim will also be given a personal silent alarm, monitored 24 hours a day.
